How to Order
HOW IT WORKS:

When a hydrant is damaged or severed from the flange, replacement according to standard practice is a major operation.

 COMPARE PROCEDURES:

 1. Currently, a utility department gate truck is called to shut off the water and to pick up the dislodged hydrant, at which time the water is kept off until repairs can be made leaving the area without fire protection.

2. Now, a maintenance crew is sent out to cut away the cement.  Another crew is sent out to pick up the rubble and rubbish of cement and dirt.

 3. Next, a crew is sent out to remove and inspect the damaged hydrant, and to deliver and mount a new hydrant.  Another maintenance crew picks up any further rubbish left by welders and or cement crews.

  4. Then, a cement crew must be sent out to refill and finish the area around the hydrant with new cement.

5. Finally, the water department is sent to turn on the flow of water to the fire hydrant.

This process usually takes up to several weeks, leaving the city liable, leaving a serious lack of fire protection.  There is higher probability of trips, falls and accidents, etc...  All of which can be easily avoided, saving you time and money.

With the "Break-Away Collar," our device will expedite fire hydrant repairs by allowing instant access to the flange bolts.

One maintenance person can restore service to the hydrant in a matter of minutes, because they have instant access to the flange bolts.  There is no need to break the concrete surrounding the mounting flange.  There is no need for a cement crew to saw cut, repair and finish the cement surrounding the fire hydrant.  There is no need for clean up crews to pick up cement and rubble and clean up the area.  Once the hydrant is replaced and bolted back on,  the top of the "Break-Away Collar" is snapped back into place and the water restored.  You can reduce repair costs and time by an average of 76%, resulting in an instant savings in operational costs.  The total time of repair is a matter of minutes versus several weeks.  The city's costs for work crews, supervisors, vehicles, equipment, materials, workman's compensation claims, retirement costs, death benefits etc... can easily amount to $2,500 per fire hydrant repair.

The Fire Hydrant Collar will not only save time and money, you will benefit from the immediate availability on human resources for other problems.

The Fire Hydrant Collar is to be installed according to existing standard fire hydrant installations and procedures.
